Diary Entry #1 – 04 Oct. 2011
In my first week of AS media, I was tasked with creating a front cover and contents page for a school-based magazine using Photoshop. I found this quite easy, as I did the GCSE Media course and as such have a basic understanding of Photoshop. I am looking forward to my AS Media course because I enjoyed the GCSE course, specifically the coursework side of things.
As my AS Media course progresses, I am looking forward to doing the coursework, as well as learning more about how TV drama and the film industry as a whole work, as well as reading more in to music magazines throughout history and up to the modern day.
Outside of my lessons, I have found myself taking more of an interest in music magazines when I see them in shops, and looking at the covers and analysing them in my head. I am finding music magazines very interesting because there is so much variety.
I am looking forward to my next week of media and hopefully learning even more about music magazines.
Diary Entry #2 – 10 Oct. 2011
This week in AS Media we have been learning about key concepts and magazines. I made a Prezi presentation to display the information in an easy-to-read format. I used a template provided by Prezi to make sure my work was presentable and well as concise and informative. I wrote about codes & conventions, audience, representation of genre and institution. Throughout this last week I have acquired a plethora of information on the topic of music magazines, and I intend to use this information throughout my AS Media course.
